Erik Praytor #5

Erik Praytor Photography

I was surfing Google under abstract/photo/artists and I eventually came across vision light photography and discovered so pretty unique artists. I clicked through most of them but it was Erik's Quote that really caught my eye: "What inspires me is finding the beauty in things most of us overlook." This concept I how I feel most of the time I'm taking photos, I look for the unique point of view (at least I try). Take the time to look at Erik's portfolio he is a pretty well rounded artist and photographer.

Ansel Adams #4

Ansel Adams PhotographyAs a little boy my dad has always been a big fan of Ansel Adams because Yosemite and the Grand canyon were some of his favorite places to go. While I was cruising the web I ran across the picture that I have been staring at for years. It was fun to cruise the site and check out my dad's photography idol. Now I got to represent and put A.A. on my page of fame.

Dave Martinidez #3

Dave Martinidez Photography
NYC

Dave Martinidez gives a new light to NY city and city photography. On his website he has a series of photos focusing in on a specific area: lines, central park, clouds etc. I really got inspired with his subjects especially this wall. I feel there is so much change that can be done to the picture; It reminds me of the Chris Orwig's wall in the city. This photo below simply shows the complexity of NYC photos. Check out the sight for yourself.

Tony Howell #2

Tony Howell Photography

I really like Tony Howell and his well rounded approach to art. He has a nice web page that is easy to direct around (http://www.tonyhowell.co.uk/) you all should check it out. I was looking at most of his work and I seem to keep drawing myself to his landscape portfolio (figures)... but I like the way he incorporates the surrounding buildings or structures in his scenery photos. I think it gives the picture a better feel and a grasp for the area.

Stevan Marcus Photography #1

Stevan Marcus Photography

The first day of class, I told everyone I was intrigued with scenery photos. Stevan Marcus does what I would do, if I was a professional photographer. He finds great angles and develops great shots. Click picture to check out his page I found.

Quail Botanical Garden

On this beautiful field trip, I brought my friend Patrick along for the ride, our destination Quail Botanical Garden. We were both ready for whatever on this beautiful day so we came prepared with a Sony 8 and my 6mp Cannon power shot. Of course I was in control of the Sony where I was trying to focus on individual flowers and scenery of this 35 acre flower paradise. Throughout our travels we encountered beautiful flowers, wildlife: birds, lizards, butterflies and hills for days. Once we traveled the grounds of the park we were on top of city of Encinitas. The view at the top of the garden is amazing, there is a great shot of the ocean as well as a great breeze.

Here are some of the pictures we came out with...

Del Dios

Del Dios Wildflowers

Hey everybody,
How we doing? good I hope if not let this story brighten your day.
On Monday the 17th we were scheduled for the camp P. experience of a life time. Of course, due to life in general, things started to get in the way. My girlfriend was out of town visiting her grandmother and decided to stay an extra day...therefore , setting her arrival date to the 17th, I had to then arrange my schedule of fun in the sun (camp p.) to pick up the most important thing to me. So i pick her up in oceanside at the Amtrak train station around 3 because i get out of class at 2:15. By the time I get to my house it is 3:15 in Vista and I now know i have slim chance to get there on time. So...I decide to take my girlfriend, my two friends and myself to the Del Dios wildflowers that I have been hearing so much about--and let me tell you it was something else.
While we were driving down the highway I didn't see much color on the mountains so naturally i started to get a little weary. But to my surprise we turned a corner and there were millions of flowers blooming so naturally all along the way. We noticed a concentrated area of flowers and turned around to park at a rest stop so we could begin our journey to the mountain view.
We started to walk up this car path that lead us right into the flowers, but, this hill was no path, it was like doing stairs in a gym for 30 min. It was steep. By the time we all got up there; the view, the colors and simply the atmosphere were enough as is. It was beautiful. I took some snaps as they all ran around in what oxygen was left up there. After a good 1-2 hours of fun up in the mountains we started our decline down the slopes to then get into my car to leave one of the most peaceful places i have been in a long time.
all in all, it was the nicest hike/walk I have taken in some time. I regret not going to the Army Base but I'm sure everything was meant for a reason. So if I'm trying to say anything go to Del Dios for a few hours, get some exercise, get some pictures, get some sun and have fun.

Pechanga

Hey everybody,
Today the class and myself went to the Pechanga reservation in Temecula. We gathered at the gas station just passes the casino to arrange carpools to the two destinations they have arranged for the class.
The first spot of our travels were just past the reservation. This was like a small plantation of Pechanga's native plants. There was a native Indian who was demonstrating how and what the plants are used for. He gave nice demonstrations which was visually pleasing. There were some nice scenery shots and sun...but the second destination was much more entertaining.Spot 2 was like a small tribal village including tee-pees, bowls, rocks that were used for grinding grains for food or paint, and a live scale hut made of wood, sticks, and mud for the cement like roofing. The sun was going down and it was starting to get cold towards the end of the day but it was still a fun and entertaining experience.
It is always fun to learn about our surrounding area and what a better way to show our experience through pictures.

San Luis Rey - Indian Rock

Indian Rock: A Native Garden Project

For our first trip we went to the Vista, CA Native Indian Rock for the San Luis Rey band of Luiseno Indians. At this site we got the chance to learn about the remaining native Indians and the work they have done to establish such a great native land. The acre (approx.) is now flourishing with native plants that have been planted for their return. Until this time I had no idea there were Luiseno Indians native to Vista, CA. This trip was not only fun but it was educational towards our native lands.

While I was walking around the grounds I felt like I was in church, I didn’t want to touch anything. Soon after I wandered for 30 minutes, an elder gentleman gave the group a tour and explained some of the native plants that are now spreading throughout the native lands. This encouraged me to get up close and personal with the wild life.

I took some shots of the native rock, scenery and plants that are now more green than ever, here are some photos , hope you enjoy...

TED... WOW!

The organized display of images the journalist on TED showed during his presentation were very startling and real. It seems that there has been no end to the War's throughout history. This journalist had a nice sense of direction of photography through film. There were points where I wanted to turn it off it was so graphic.
I feel there is no boundary to war and the games we play with each others lives. This display of still pictures brought an emotion out of me that should be felt throughout every individual across the globe. This action would hopefully change some individuals outlook on their decesions through life.
All in all, wars are real and not to be taken lightly. There is always going to be someone suffering if we are at war.

My First Look at blurb.com

As I was surfing through the digital book's published on blurb.com, I came across a book called Images From The Sea. The images in the book preview seemed to look like a professional piece of work. There are close-ups of sea creatures as well as group images including dolphins and fish emphasizing on color and texture. I love the sea and everything in it, so, I felt this book was a nice piece of work to establish an understanding as well as production ideas for my book to come.

First Video in Class 1/28

Today in class we watched a student's music video. I was a very powerful piece that represented her background through art and music. Her images were very creative and abstract which gave the music video a nice attraction. The sounds and words used were an easy way for her to grab the audience from beginning to end. All in all, it was an extremely creative and interesting how she used her knowledge, background and skill to create such a nice piece of work.
